Stephen is in Houston to help offer trauma counseling
to victims of Harvey
Most people are aware of the overwhelming devastation caused by hurricane Harvey down in Texas. Like many of you, Stephen and I have been asking, “How can we help?” When the American Counseling Association put out a plea for trauma counselors, everything within both of us said, “Stephen, you’re made for this.” If any of you know him, you know this is true.
Stephen has already deployed for a week long stint to help people who’ve experienced devastating loss be able to begin processing their grief and rebuilding their hope. Even with all of our own challenges at home with my parents, we’re grateful for this opportunity to make a small but vital hands-on difference.
He is working 7am-7pm shifts for 7 days straight - and he's loving it!
As we all know now, Irma is about to do its best to destroy Florida. Here on the West Coast thousands are being displaced by fire rather than water, and people are witnessing the destruction of all that they worked to achieve throughout their lives.
We'd love to invite you to take part in a tangible way
to help people in dire need.
Though Stephen's travel and expenses are covered by the Red Cross, he will lose $1000 of income by volunteering for a week in Houston. That is just income we cannot afford to lose.We know that whether or not we gain support to help cover his loss of income this was the the right thing to do. We are merely asking if you'd be willing to consider helping us help bring healing and hope to those traumatized by Hurricane Harvey.
We covet your prayers and will welcome your financial partnership as Stephen seeks to carry out his calling of being a rebel for love; leaving a drop of grace in every step.
