"If every person who hears our music, or comes to our shows, or who meets us even without hearing any of our music, feels like they're valued, that they have worth and have just even a little more hope in their life, then we've accomplished one of the best things we could possibly want to accomplish as a band."

If you were to think about any musical artist that has had a significant impact on you (not only liking their music, but they made some kind of change in your life), we would bet you heard some interview, read an article, or got exposed to something that gave you a glimpse into the artists' personal lives, views, and beliefs.

Ignation is a band formed with a mission to use relevant music that can bring us to places and situations where we can also be open and honest about our own lives in order to bring a hope to places that many churches don't reach.

3 scriptures largely inspire us in our goals:

1 Corinthians 1:27-29
"But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong.
God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him."
We are the weak and foolish things of this world. We are flawed, and we don't want to hide that. It's not in us being perfect that speaks the greatest, it's in our imperfections where you really see God's love. That despite our shortcomings, we're still born with purpose and have potential to do so much good and God will help us grow and become strong in those weak areas. What can get in the way of that is when we're unwilling to admit and face that those weak areas exist.

Luke 15:4-7
"Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it? And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.’ I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent."
We never want to be more focused on how many people we play in front of over the needs of those in front of us. Sometimes God will work in settings of large crowds. But just as often we've seen Him work in smaller one-on-one settings. Where we know if the situation had been a large crowd, those people wouldn't have gotten the attention they needed at the time, or wouldn't have even showed up at all.

Romans 15:20-21
"It has always been my ambition to preach the gospel where Christ was not known, so that I would not be building on someone else’s foundation. Rather, as it is written: 'Those who were not told about him will see, and those who have not heard will understand.'"
We feel we've seen churches trying to reach people without understanding the importance of speaking in a way that's relevant to those you're trying to reach. It's like trying to express love to someone who speaks a different language than you. We're working to step in to translate, to reach those who need and are searching for hope but the church has been unable to reach.

Church should be a source of hope, but instead has been a source of pain to many. When you have churches and Christians who are unwilling to be open and honest about their imperfection, instead putting on a facade of perfection, who are more focused on the numbers of people rather than the needs of the people around them, and who aren't willing to reach out in a way that's relevant to those who are outside of the church, that's where we feel much of that hurt comes from.

We want to work on fixing this and restoring hope within the church. We want to help bring healing to some of that pain caused. Through demonstration and acting in love, we want to give people an option to walk in the same hope we have, rather than trying to force our beliefs. We want to place just as much priority on our lives off-stage as what we do on-stage, because we understand that's what's going to often have the greater impact.

Creating music isn't our goal itself, it's simply our method we felt most called to use to help spread that hope. We all have our gifts and those we're meant to impact. Ours is through music. Music equally has had huge impacts on us and has helped us in our own difficult times. Music is a language that can often bypass most language barriers. It's a way to speak to people you wouldn't normally be able to speak to.

Already we've watched so many lives impacted by the little we've done. Miracles, restored hope, addictions broken, people choosing to follow God for the 1st time. We appreciate every person who has donated, prayed, and provided support to this goal in any way. Thank you for choosing to partner and work with us as we move more and more toward living this goal.

WHAT DISTANCE CAN'T SEPARATE TOUR 2018

Starting September 2018 we will be starting a 2 month tour throughout the country called the What Distance Can't Separate Tour. The heart of the tour came from the idea of focusing on who God has already placed in our lives rather than be consumed by the pursuit to reach more. An important lesson we felt we've learned in our lives is that when you focus on taking best care of managing and growing what God has already given you, it will allow you to enter the place where He can then bless you with more. Unfortunately, we've sadly instead seen so many ministries become so consumed by that pursuit to reach more, they end up neglecting and poorly managing what they already have, usually causing it to shrink rather than grow.

With the members of the band also running their own businesses, we've seen a big example of this happening there too: when the focus was on providing the best quality to our customers over trying to gain more customers, growth in the amount of customers we had naturally happened because people were so happy with the services or product, they shared it with others. But when the focus was more on gaining more customers, it took much more work work for a lot less return, often causing a decrease in quality of work.

With that being said, this tour is focused on those who God has already placed in our lives, particularly those on our hearts who live around the country that we aren't able to often see or spend time with because of the distance. We chose to not let distance prevent us from showing those we love how valuable they are to us, and that is where the name of the tour came from. Each stop we plan on this tour is based on those people in our lives. And we know that within this process, God will naturally start placing new people in our paths to add to our journey of loving and valuing those God called us to love.

All current donations will be going toward making this tour possible. We are blessed to be partnered with the organization Artists in Christian Testimony (A.C.T.) so that all donations made are tax deductible to the givers. We will also be working with other organizations on this tour, including The Extreme Tour, RYFO, and various other ministries and bands. Thank you all for your support!
